It’s all well and good starting a travel blog and telling you a little about us, but there’s hundreds or travel blogs out there and thousands of backpackers in every corner of the world. We are of course all so different and have such contrasting approaches to travel. So, we thought we would tell you a little about why, how and where we like to travel.
As the name suggests, we like to take our time. In a world packed full of fast food, frantic lifestyles, high pressure and unrelenting consumerism, it can be difficult to go slow. We, like many others, have found the best escape from this is to travelling. Taking ourselves out of London has given us new perspectives, ideas, experiences and most importantly it’s given us happiness.
The more time we have spent on the road, the more we have realised that we are always somewhere in between (maybe that would have been a better blog name). What do we mean by ‘in between’? Well, we find ourselves difficult to define as travellers. For example….
When it comes to budgeting and what we spend, we’re certainly no flashpackers but equally you won’t catch us in the grimiest hostel available every single night of our adventures.
When it comes to food, we won’t be blogging about Michelin star restaurants, but nor are we living on SuperNoodles. We also aren’t strict, militant vegans but we don’t eat meat and do find ourselves constantly on the hunt for ‘leche de almendras’ (better known as almond milk).
When it comes to places, we of course love going off the beaten track. But this doesn’t mean living in the Amazon basin with recently discovered tribes, drinking ayahuasca all day. We do however love a to see the lesser known areas of countries we visit as well as the Machu Picchus of the world.
When it comes to people, we think it’s not only important but also far more enjoyable to interact to with locals. As much as it’s nice to hang out in hostels with fellow English speaking travellers sometimes, we love to use our horribly limited language skills to meet and understand locals wherever we are.
You get the idea! There’s a plethora of blogs out there which tell you which fine dining restaurants are hot this month and even more which tell you how to survive on just 5 pesos a day. We hope there’s something about our travel philosophy which you can relate to or enjoy reading about here. Or even better, something which inspires you to travel your way!
