If you’re looking for a country that gives you a chance to Ski in the mountains, gaze upon the Milky Way in the desert, scale Patagonian peaks and drink incredible wine in the countryside then Chile is for you.
From the moment we set foot in San Pedro de Atacama, we could see that Chile was going to be an incredibly cool country. Perhaps a little more European feeling than it’s neighbours to the North, Chile is a country where you can indulge as well as explore.
Drink Wine, lots of wine. Argentina might be better associated with wine back in Europe, but Chilean wine can more than hold its own. The Central region in particular produces some seriously good Cabernet Sauvignon, Carménère, Merlot and more.
Sleep Airbnb came into its own in Chile for us. We got some incredible deals, especially in Valparaiso where artist in residence accommodation provided the perfect base.
Try Stargazing in the Atacama desert, one of the best places in the world to see the night sky.
Do Visit Torres del Paine national park. Even if you’re not a big hiker, there’s plenty of day trips or even coach tours that will ensure you don’t miss out on some of the most spectacular scenery on Earth.
Don’t Skip the UNESCO World Heritage city of Valparaiso. Possibly our favourite city, this former maritime town turned artists playground is utterly unique. Stay in the hills to fully immerse yourself in the street art, wine bars and incredible sunsets over the city’s docks.
